Capturing Feelings ~ Time in a Bottle

I was fortunate on a past weekend to have been able to attend a beautiful wedding. Not only was it in a gorgeous spot outdoors but it was a dear friend as well. The wedding was held under the Century Tree on the Texas A&M University campus. This spot is a magical spot where many have proposed. It is a beautiful tree and the wedding was just as beautiful as the setting.

Spontaneous Hugs are the Best!

Getting ready for bedtime or getting kids up and ready for school are always hectic times it seems. A Mom is not able to heave a sigh of relief until the last kiddo is kissed and tucked in or seen safely into the school.

When my kids were little, hugs were frequent every day. Children are extremely affectionate creatures if you foster that behavior. I was never so happy when I was pregnant to find an old rocking chair that I used to rock both kiddos to sleep. I remember those days fondly, in the dim light of a nightlight in a quiet room. I rocked them both to sleep, baby to toddler stage. As they got older, simply rocking and cuddling with them as their own special time with Mom are precious memories.

Simple or Extravagant? ~ The holiday looms near

Valentine’s Day is yet again right around the corner. This day has become increasingly commercialized for flower vendors, candy vendors and many other companies as they scramble to get in on the dollars that are spent.

Whatever happened to having a simple, small celebration? Since when did it become a staple that women everywhere supposedly expect to be showered with candy, flowers and an expensive hallmark card expressing the undying sentiments of their significant other?
